This strange ordinance points directly to Christ, whose blood cleanses the conscience from death’s defilement and makes worshipers fit to approach the living God.
When God descended on Mount Sinai in fire, thunder, and earthquake, Israel received the law but could not keep it. The Sinai covenant revealed human inability, pointing forward to Christ who perfectly fulfilled the law, bore its curse, and mediates a new covenant written on hearts.
The Exodus from Egypt stands as the Old Testament’s defining redemption—God delivering His people from bondage through the blood of a lamb. Yet this mighty deliverance was itself a shadow pointing to Christ, who accomplishes a greater exodus from sin’s slavery, leading His people to eternal rest.
