His story prophetically portrays Jesus Christ: the beloved Son rejected by His own, suffering unjustly, exalted to the highest position, and offering salvation to those who rejected Him.
David rose from shepherd boy to Israel’s greatest king, receiving covenant promises of an eternal throne and kingdom. These promises find their ultimate fulfillment in Jesus Christ, the Son of David who reigns forever—combining David’s roles as shepherd, king, warrior, and worshipper in perfect, eternal form.
Moses delivered Israel from Egypt, mediated the covenant at Sinai, and led God’s people for forty years. Yet he prophesied another prophet like himself who would come. Jesus Christ is that greater Moses—accomplishing a greater exodus through His death and resurrection, delivering His people from sin to eternal glory.
